Most people book an airport taxi twice a year, which is exactly why it goes wrong so often. You search the night before, take the first price that appears, and find out at the kerb that the fare did not include waiting, or the car is too small for four cases, or the driver has never heard of your road. Book Airport Taxi exists to take those surprises out of the trip.
We run pre-booked, fixed-fare transfers between homes, hotels and offices across London and the South East and every major airport and cruise port that serves them. You put in a pickup, a drop-off and a date, pick a car that genuinely fits your group, and the price you see is the price you pay. Flight tracking, meet and greet and child seats are part of the service, not extras on the invoice.
How a fixed airport fare works
The fare is worked out from the actual road distance between your two addresses, then fixed for the whole car rather than per passenger. Traffic on the M25, a slow approach to Terminal 5 or a forty-minute queue at passport control does not change it. A saloon covers up to four people with a couple of large cases. If you need more space you choose a bigger vehicle, see its price before you commit, and that price is locked too.
Adding a stop on the way, such as collecting a relative in another postcode, adds the extra miles and a small stop charge, shown before you confirm. Return trips get five per cent off the way back. There is no booking fee and no card needed to reserve.
Gatwick, Heathrow and the other London airports
Gatwick and Heathrow make up most of our work, and they behave very differently. Gatwick has two terminals on different approach roads, and from January 2026 the forecourt drop-off charge rose to £10 for ten minutes. Heathrow has four working terminals, with Terminal 5 on its own access road and Terminal 4 down by the southern perimeter, and its forecourt charge is now £7. Our drivers know where each one is, which lane to be in and where the free alternatives are.
We also drive to Stansted, Luton and London City every day, and run airport-to-airport connections when a trip involves two different London airports. Connections like Gatwick to Stansted or Heathrow to Gatwick are popular with travellers on separate tickets, because there is no direct train between them.
From the doorstep, not the station
London is well served by trains, and for one person with a small bag a train is often the cheaper option. We would rather say that plainly. Where a car earns its fare is the door-to-door part: no walk to the station with suitcases, no change at Clapham Junction or King's Cross, no first train that leaves too late for a 6am departure. For families, older travellers and anyone with real luggage, that difference matters more than the price gap.
Our area guides cover the practical details for each neighbourhood, from Wimbledon and Merton to Richmond, Croydon, Epsom, Kingston and well beyond, including how long the drive actually takes and what the public transport alternative looks like. If your area is not listed, the booking form still gives you a fixed price for any UK address.
Cars for every size of group
The fleet runs from everyday saloons and estates through six- and eight-seat MPVs to executive cars, a long-wheelbase S-Class and the fully electric BMW i7. For bigger parties, the eight-seat MPV takes everyone and their cases in one vehicle, and groups of nine or more travel in two cars booked together.
Child seats are free. Tell us the ages when you book and the right seats are fitted before the car arrives. If someone in your group uses a wheelchair or needs extra help, add a note and we will match the vehicle and driver to it.
Long distance and cruise transfers
Not every trip starts and ends inside the M25. We regularly drive from London airports to Manchester, Leeds, Liverpool, Sheffield, Newcastle, Cardiff, Bristol and Bath, and down to the cruise terminals at Southampton, Dover and Portsmouth. On a long run a fixed fare is worth even more, because one bad hour on the M6 or the M3 would cost a fortune on a meter.
Frequently asked questions
How do I get a price for my airport taxi?
Enter your pickup, drop-off and date in the form at the top of the page and press Next. On the booking page you can fine-tune the addresses on the map, add stops and choose a vehicle. Each vehicle shows its fixed price before you confirm.
Is the fare really fixed?
Yes. Once your booking is confirmed the price does not change for traffic, roadworks or a delayed flight. It only changes if you change the booking, for example by adding a stop or switching to a bigger car.
What happens if my flight is delayed?
We track the flight number you give us. If you land early or late, the driver's pickup time moves with it, and there is no charge for the delay.
Where will my driver meet me at the airport?
In the arrivals hall with a name board, then you walk together to the car. At Gatwick, private hire cars park in the short-stay car park, a few minutes from arrivals.
Do you charge for child seats?
No. Infant, toddler and booster seats are free. Tell us how many and the children's ages when you book.
Can I book for someone else?
Yes. Put the passenger's name and mobile number in the booking so the driver can contact them directly, and add your own email for the confirmation.
Do you cover areas outside London?
Yes. We cover Surrey, Sussex, Kent, Hampshire, Berkshire, Essex and long-distance journeys across England and Wales. Any UK address can be quoted online.
