The BN12 postcode covers the western side of Worthing: Goring-by-Sea, Ferring, Durrington's southern edge and the quiet roads running down to the seafront at West Worthing. Lancing itself, a few miles along the coast on the other side of Worthing, is in BN15, and we cover it too, with its own guide to Heathrow to Lancing BN15. Whichever part of this stretch of coast you are heading to, a taxi from Heathrow Airport costs from £149 for a saloon to BN12, fixed at booking.
From Heathrow to the Sussex coast
From Heathrow, the driver usually takes the M25 clockwise to junction 9 at Leatherhead and follows the A24 south through Dorking and Horsham, over the South Downs at Findon, and into Worthing. Another option is the M25 round to the M23 and the A23 to Brighton, then west along the A27. The A24 route is usually shorter for BN12.
It is around 70 miles. Without heavy traffic, plan on an hour and twenty to thirty minutes. The M25 around Heathrow and Leatherhead, and the A24 through Dorking and the Findon valley, are the usual slow spots. On summer weekends, the A27 along the coast can be very busy.
Goring, Ferring and West Worthing
BN12 is a quiet, mostly residential area, popular with retired people and families. Goring-by-Sea has its own village feel, with the Goring Gap of open fields and beach between it and Ferring. Ferring is a village with a strong community and private estates near the sea. Most roads are easy to reach, but some of the private estate roads in Ferring have speed humps or narrow entrances, so tell us if you have booked a larger vehicle.
Public transport from Heathrow
There is no direct route by public transport. The usual options are the RailAir coach to Woking, then a train south and along the coast, or the tube or Elizabeth line into London and a Southern train from Victoria to Goring-by-Sea or Durrington-on-Sea. Either way, it is around two and a half hours with at least two changes. National Express coaches also run to Worthing from the London airports, though not always conveniently timed.
For one person travelling light during the day, that is a cheaper option. For older travellers, families or anyone with long-haul luggage, the door-to-door car is much simpler, and with two or more passengers the fixed fare is competitive.
Heathrow terminals and meet and greet
Tell us your Heathrow terminal when you book. Terminals 2 and 3 are in the central area, Terminal 5 is at the western end, and Terminal 4 is on the southern side. Expect your driver in arrivals, name board in hand, with your flight already being tracked. If your flight is delayed, the pickup moves automatically, and the time it takes to clear passport control and collect bags is included.
Heathrow drop-off charges
For your next departure, if someone drives you to Heathrow privately, warn them about the forecourt charge: since January 2026, every entry to a terminal drop-off zone has cost £7, with a ten-minute limit enforced by cameras. Overstaying brings an £80 penalty notice, reduced to £40 if paid within 14 days. The free option is the Long Stay car park, which gives 30 minutes free. With us, the fixed fare covers it.
Going to Heathrow from the coast
The same fixed fare applies from BN12 to Heathrow. For long-haul flights, we suggest leaving around three and a half hours before departure, which allows for the A24 and the M25. For early flights, a pickup in the small hours means clear roads.
Older travellers
Many of our customers in Goring and Ferring are older travellers visiting family abroad. If you need help with luggage, a little more time to get in and out of the car, or space for a walking frame or folding wheelchair, add a note to your booking. Drivers are happy to help.
Worthing seafront and the town centre
If your destination is in central Worthing rather than BN12, the drive is almost the same. The pier, the seafront hotels and the town centre around Montague Street are a few minutes further east. Enter your exact address and the booking form will give you a fixed price. For seafront hotels, give us the hotel name; some have their own set-down areas on side roads.
