The drive back to Bordon
From Gatwick, the driver takes the M23 north and the M25 west to junction 10, then the A3 south through Guildford and the Hindhead Tunnel, leaving at the junction for Grayshott and Bordon. From there, the B3002 or the A325 takes you into Whitehill and Bordon. On some days, the driver may go cross-country via Dorking, or the A31 through Farnham, instead.
It is about 45 miles. On a clear road, it takes an hour to an hour and ten minutes. The M25 at Wisley and the A3 through Guildford are the usual slow spots. For late-night landings, the roads are quiet and the trip is often under an hour.

Many holiday flights from southern Europe land at Gatwick late in the evening. By the time you are through, public transport to Bordon is all but finished: no station in the town, and the last connections from Liss or Farnham are long gone.
