Bradford has strong family ties across the world, particularly with Pakistan, India and Bangladesh, and many families travel abroad for weddings, holidays and to visit relatives. When flights home land at Gatwick, Bradford is around 235 miles away. With a family, gifts and luggage for several weeks, a train journey via London is a big undertaking. A taxi from Gatwick Airport to Bradford costs from £459 for a saloon, fixed at booking, for the whole car.
The route north
From Gatwick, the driver takes the M23 and the M25 to the M1 at junction 21, then heads north all the way through the Midlands and South Yorkshire. Near Leeds, the driver usually takes the M62 west to junction 26 and the M606 into Bradford. Another option is to continue on the M1 to Leeds and take the A650 or A647 across. It is around 235 miles.
Without stops, plan on four and a quarter to four and a half hours. The M25, the M1 around Luton and Milton Keynes, and the M62 near Leeds are the usual slow points. Late evening departures are often quicker.
Big families and lots of luggage
A lot of our Bradford bookings are families returning from long trips abroad, and the luggage reflects it. A saloon takes up to four passengers with two large cases, which is rarely enough. For a family of four with four or five large cases, choose an estate or six-seat MPV. For bigger families, the eight-seat Volkswagen Multivan takes eight passengers with a full set of luggage. For extended families travelling together, an eight-seat MPV keeps everyone in one vehicle at one fixed price, which usually works out much cheaper per person than train tickets.
Breaks on the way
Four hours is a long journey after a long flight. Your driver will stop whenever you ask, and we usually plan at least one break, often at Leicester Forest East or Woodall services on the M1. If you need to stop for prayers or a meal, just tell the driver; services along the M1 have quiet areas and food. With young children, we can plan more stops.
Bradford and the surrounding towns
We drop off anywhere in Bradford: the city centre around City Park, Manningham, Heaton, Girlington, Great Horton, Little Horton, Bradford Moor, Thornbury and Idle. We also cover Shipley, Saltaire, Bingley, Keighley, Ilkley, Halifax, Huddersfield, Dewsbury and Batley. Type the full address into the booking form to see the fixed price.
The train alternative
For a solo traveller, the train is usually cheaper. Thameslink runs from Gatwick to St Pancras, a short walk from King's Cross, and LNER trains run to Leeds, with some through to Bradford Forster Square. With a change at Leeds, the whole trip takes around four hours. With children and a lot of luggage, crossing London and changing at Leeds is hard work.
Late arrivals
Many long-haul flights from South Asia and the Middle East land at Gatwick in the morning or evening. We run around the clock, and the fixed fare is the same at night. A late departure from Gatwick means quiet motorways, and the driver will keep the car calm if the children want to sleep.
Gatwick meet and greet
The driver follows your flight and is waiting in the arrivals hall holding a sign with your name. A late landing simply moves the pickup; it never changes the price. For your next departure, if a relative drives you to Gatwick, the forecourt drop-off zones have cost £10 for the first ten minutes since January 2026. With us, the fixed fare covers it.
Booking for a family member
If you are booking a car for parents or relatives arriving at Gatwick from abroad, put their name and mobile number on the booking. The driver will hold a name board with their name in arrivals, help with the luggage, and call them if they cannot find each other. We will send the confirmation to you.
What to tell us when you book
Give us the flight number and terminal, the full Bradford address with postcode, the number of passengers, any children's ages for car seats, and the number of large cases. If someone is getting out earlier, perhaps in Leeds or Dewsbury, add it as a stop and the fixed price includes the extra miles.
