Legoland Windsor is one of the few major theme parks you can reach from a long-haul flight in under half an hour. That makes Heathrow the natural airport for families coming from overseas for a few days at the resort. A taxi from Heathrow to Legoland Windsor costs from £49 for a saloon, fixed at booking, with child seats fitted free of charge before you get in.
A short hop from the terminal
The resort is about ten miles west of Heathrow, on the Winkfield Road on the edge of Windsor Great Park. From Terminal 5, the driver usually heads out to the M25, round to junction 13 or onto the M4 at junction 6, and into Windsor from there. From the central terminals or Terminal 4, the A3044 and A308 along the Thames can be just as quick.
It takes about 20 to 25 minutes in normal traffic. On the busiest days, typically sunny summer weekends and school holiday mornings, the queue to get into the resort can add time at the very end, and the roads around Windsor town centre can be slow when the castle and the town are busy.
Getting to the hotels at the resort
Legoland has its own on-site hotels: the Legoland Windsor Resort Hotel, the Legoland Castle Hotel and themed lodges in the woodland area. Each has its own guest drop-off. Tell us which hotel or lodge you are staying in and the driver will follow the resort signs to the right entrance. If you are staying in a Windsor hotel instead, we can take you there and then run you to the park on another day, both at fixed prices.
Free child seats and space for the buggy
Families with small children are most of our Legoland bookings, so this matters. Child seats are free. Tell us the ages of the children when you book, and we will fit infant carriers, toddler seats or booster seats as needed. If you are bringing a pushchair, mention it so we send a car with enough boot space. A saloon fits a folded buggy and two large cases. For more luggage, choose an estate or MPV.
Meeting your driver at Heathrow
Your driver tracks your flight and waits in the arrivals hall with a name board. Tired children after a long flight are much happier when there is someone ready to help with the trolley and a car seat already fitted. If your flight is delayed, the pickup moves automatically at no extra cost, and the time it takes to get through passport control and baggage reclaim is included.
Heathrow's drop-off charges for your trip home
At the end of your stay, if someone else is driving you back to Heathrow, it is worth knowing that every entry to a terminal drop-off zone has cost £7 since January 2026, with a ten-minute limit and camera enforcement. Overstaying brings an £80 penalty notice. The free option is the Long Stay car park, with 30 minutes free and a shuttle bus. With a pre-booked taxi, the fixed fare covers the drop-off.
Public transport to Legoland
There is no direct train to the resort. Public transport usually means a bus or train to Windsor, then the Legoland shuttle bus from the town centre during the season. With a family and luggage it is possible but slow, and it involves more waiting around than most small children will tolerate. For the sake of a short taxi ride, most families find the car is worth it.
Day trips from Heathrow hotels
Some families fly in, stay near Heathrow for the first night, and visit Legoland as a day trip. We can collect you from any Heathrow hotel in the morning and pick you up from the resort at closing time. Book both journeys in advance, especially in the summer holidays, when cars are in high demand at park closing.
Windsor Castle and the town
Legoland is only a couple of miles from the town of Windsor, so many families combine the park with a visit to Windsor Castle, a walk in the Great Park or a boat trip on the Thames. If you are staying in a Windsor hotel, we can take you there from Heathrow first, then run you to the resort on park days. Some of the streets around the castle are pedestrianised or closed for the Changing of the Guard, so the driver will drop you at the nearest convenient point.
What to have ready
Give us your flight number and terminal, the hotel or resort accommodation name, the number of adults and children with ages, and how many large cases and buggies you are bringing. With that, we can send the right car with the right seats already fitted. If you are flying with a large family group, an eight-seat MPV can take everyone together.
