Raynes Park sits between Wimbledon and New Malden, where the A3 runs past on its way to Kingston and Guildford. For Gatwick flights, we have a separate guide to Gatwick to Raynes Park. This page is about Heathrow, which is closer: about 14 miles west across Kingston or Richmond. A taxi from Heathrow Airport to Raynes Park costs from £59 for a saloon, fixed at booking, and gets you home in 35 to 40 minutes on a normal day.
The route home
From Heathrow, the driver usually takes the A316 east through Twickenham and Richmond, then the A3 or local roads through Roehampton and Wimbledon Common into Raynes Park. Another option goes south-east through Feltham, Hampton and Kingston and along the A3. It is about 14 miles.
In normal traffic, it takes 35 to 40 minutes. The A316 near Twickenham, the Kingston one-way system and the A3 at Robin Hood roundabout are the usual slow spots at rush hour. On Twickenham Stadium event days, the driver will avoid the A316.
Around SW20
SW20 covers Raynes Park itself, with the station and the shops along Coombe Lane and Kingston Road, West Wimbledon, Cottenham Park and the streets up towards Wimbledon Common, plus West Barnes and the edge of Motspur Park. The area around the station has a lot of flats; tell us which entrance faces the road. For houses near Cannon Hill Common, a house number and the road name are usually enough.
The train or tube
From Raynes Park, there is no direct rail link to Heathrow. The usual route is a South Western Railway train to Wimbledon or Clapham Junction, then the District line and the Piccadilly line, or the Elizabeth line via central London. Either way, allow an hour and a quarter to an hour and a half with at least two changes. The X26 express bus runs from New Malden and Kingston to Heathrow, a short trip from Raynes Park, which is a good budget option for a solo traveller.
For families, travellers with luggage or late arrivals, the car is much easier, and for two or three people the fixed fare is competitive.
Heathrow terminals and meet and greet
Heathrow has four working terminals in three locations: 2 and 3 in the centre, 5 at the western end and 4 on the southern side. Tell us your terminal when you book. The driver follows your flight and is waiting in the arrivals hall holding a sign with your name. If your flight is delayed, the pickup moves at no extra cost, and passport control and baggage time is included.
Heathrow's drop-off charges
For your next departure, if someone drives you to Heathrow privately, they will pay £7 per entry to a terminal drop-off zone since January 2026, with a ten-minute limit enforced by cameras. Overstaying brings an £80 penalty notice, cut to £40 if paid within 14 days. The free option is the Long Stay car park, which gives 30 minutes free. With a pre-booked taxi, the fixed fare covers it.
Leaving Raynes Park for Heathrow
The same fixed fare applies in the other direction. As a guide, leave around two and a half hours before a short-haul flight and three hours before long-haul. For early flights, the roads are quiet and the trip is quicker.
Wimbledon fortnight
In late June and early July, the Wimbledon Championships bring heavy traffic and road closures to the area around the All England Club, a couple of miles from Raynes Park. If you are flying in during the tournament, tell us when you book and the driver will plan a route around the closures.
Families coming home
Coming back from a long-haul holiday with children, the last thing anyone wants is two changes on the tube with cases. The driver is waiting in arrivals, child seats are fitted before you get in, and you are home in under an hour. For families of five or six, an MPV keeps everyone together with the luggage.
Booking for visitors
If you are booking for a relative or a guest arriving from abroad, put their name and mobile number on the booking. The driver will meet them in arrivals with a name board, and we will send the confirmation to you.
