Woking is well connected for Heathrow: the RailAir coach runs from the station straight to the airport. Gatwick is a different story. There is no direct link, and the train route goes the long way round. That is why so many people in Woking and its villages book a car for Gatwick. Our Gatwick taxis from Woking cover all four postcodes, GU21, GU22, GU23 and GU24, at fixed fares from £79 for a saloon, collected from your door.
The four Woking postcodes
Each part of Woking has its own character, and the drive to Gatwick starts slightly differently from each:
GU21: Woking town and the north-west
The town centre around the station and Jubilee Square, Horsell and Horsell Common, Goldsworth Park, St John's, Knaphill and Brookwood. Drivers usually head east on the A320 or A245 to the M25.
GU22: south and east Woking
Hook Heath, Mayford, Westfield, Old Woking, Kingfield, Maybury, Sheerwater, Pyrford and Byfleet's edge. Close to the A247 and the A3 at Ripley or the M25 junction 10.
GU23: Ripley, Send and the villages
Ripley, Send, Send Marsh, Ockham and Wisley, right next to the A3 and M25 junction 10.
GU24: the heath villages
Bisley, Pirbright, Chobham, West End and Brookwood's edge, on the heathland west and north of Woking. Some properties here are rural and down tracks.
The route to Gatwick
From most of Woking, the driver heads to the M25 at junction 10 or 11, then travels clockwise to junction 7 and down the M23 to Gatwick. From GU22 and GU23, the A3 to junction 10 is usually quickest. It is around 30 miles from the town centre.
On a normal day, the trip takes 35 to 45 minutes. The M25 junction 10 at Wisley is the main bottleneck, and the town centre's roads around the station can be slow at rush hour. For early flights, the roads are clear.
Train or taxi?
There is no direct train from Woking to Gatwick. The usual route is a train to Guildford, then the Great Western Railway service along the North Downs line to Gatwick, which takes around an hour and a quarter in total. Alternatively, you can go into London and back out. For a solo traveller with light luggage near the station, the Guildford route works.
For families, travellers in the villages, or anyone with an early flight, the car is much simpler. With three or four passengers, the fixed fare is competitive.
Gatwick's drop-off charges
If someone is giving you a lift, warn them that Gatwick has charged £10 for the first ten minutes in its forecourt drop-off zones since January 2026, then £1 a minute up to thirty minutes. Cameras log the plate, and payment is due online by midnight the next day, with a £100 penalty for missing it. The free option is the Long Stay car park, which allows up to two hours with a shuttle bus. If you pre-book with us, it is included in the price you are quoted.
Reliability, in practice
People search for reliable airport transfers because they have been let down before. In practice, reliability means a few simple things: the car arrives a few minutes early, not late; the driver has your flight details and tracks the flight on the way home; the price is fixed when you book; and someone answers the phone at 4am if anything changes. That is what we commit to on every booking.
Business travel from Woking
Woking has a large business district and many international companies. Our executive saloon offers a quieter cabin, and company accounts get monthly invoicing with a reference for each journey.
Meet and greet on the way home
Coming back from Gatwick, your driver tracks your flight and waits in the arrivals hall with a name board. After you collect your bags, they will walk you to the car in the short-stay car park and help with the trolley. If your flight is early or late, the pickup moves automatically, and there is no charge for delays.
Families and luggage
For families, an estate takes four large cases and an MPV takes six passengers with their bags. Child seats are free; give us the ages of the children when you book. For larger groups, the eight-seat MPV keeps everyone together at one fixed price.
Timing your pickup
As a guide, leave Woking around two and a half hours before a short-haul flight and three hours before long-haul, adding half an hour in the school holidays. When you book, we will recommend a pickup time based on your flight and terminal.
