Euston is where you arrive in London from Birmingham, Manchester, Liverpool, Glasgow and the rest of the West Coast Main Line. If your onward flight is from Gatwick, you have a problem: Gatwick is on the other side of the city, about 30 miles south, and the best rail route starts from a different station altogether. A taxi from Euston station to Gatwick Airport costs from £79 for a saloon, fixed at booking, and your driver can meet you near the station or at a nearby hotel.
The quickest train is at St Pancras
It is worth being clear about this. The fastest public transport from Euston to Gatwick is to walk five or ten minutes east along the Euston Road to St Pancras, where Thameslink trains run directly to Gatwick Airport station in about 45 to 50 minutes. With a small bag, that is quick, cheap and simple.
It is less simple with heavy luggage, children, a group, or a tight connection after a delayed train. The walk to St Pancras, the escalators down to the Thameslink platforms and a crowded train at peak times all add up. That is where a car from the station makes sense.
The drive south
From Euston, the driver heads south through central London, usually via Bloomsbury, Waterloo Bridge or Blackfriars, then the Elephant and Castle and down the A23 through Brixton, Streatham and Croydon to the M23. It is about 30 miles. Another option, at quieter times, is the A3 and the M25.
Plan on an hour and ten minutes to an hour and a half. Central London traffic and the A23 through south London decide the journey time. For a flight, leave plenty of margin.
Meeting at Euston
Euston is being rebuilt for HS2, and the roads and forecourt around the station change from time to time. Private hire cars cannot wait on the main forecourt, so we agree a meeting point when you book, on a nearby street where the car can stop legally. Give us your train's scheduled arrival time and service. If your train is delayed, call the driver and they will wait.
If you would rather be collected from a hotel nearby, in Bloomsbury, King's Cross or around Euston Square, enter the hotel as your pickup.
Timing your connection
For a connection from a train to a flight, build in more time than you think. Trains on the West Coast line are sometimes delayed, and the drive across London is unpredictable. As a guide, aim to reach Gatwick at least two and a half hours before a short-haul flight and three hours before long-haul. That means your train should arrive at Euston around four hours before departure.
Gatwick terminals and drop-off
Tell us whether you are flying from North or South Terminal; they are on different approach roads. The driver will drop you at the terminal forecourt. Since January 2026, Gatwick has charged £10 for the first ten minutes in its drop-off zones; with a pre-booked taxi, the fixed fare covers it.
Congestion Charge and ULEZ
Euston is inside the central London Congestion Charge zone and the Ultra Low Emission Zone. Our vehicles meet ULEZ standards. If the Congestion Charge applies to your journey time, we will confirm it when you book.
Groups and families off the train
For families and groups, an MPV or eight-seater takes everyone and their luggage in one vehicle. That is usually much easier than getting a group with cases through St Pancras and onto Thameslink.
Hotels around Euston and King's Cross
Many travellers arrive at Euston the evening before a flight and stay in one of the hotels around the station, King's Cross or Bloomsbury. A morning pickup from the hotel door is easier than navigating the station at rush hour with luggage. Give us the hotel name and the time, and we will suggest a pickup time based on your flight.
Business travellers
For business travellers coming down from the Midlands or the North for a Gatwick flight, the executive saloon gives a quieter ride across London, and company accounts receive monthly invoicing with references for each journey.
